In late 2003, a small number of lay people from around Raleigh began to meet regularly for prayer in response to the need for renewal in the Episcopal Church. In January 2004, this group began meeting for weekly worship at 5:00 pm beginning with a twelve week preaching series taught by outstanding Anglican preachers from across the country. The services were founded on historic creedal orthodoxy, biblical preaching, & liturgical worship.
In May 2004, this group felt God lead them to found Holy Trinity Church. They continued weekly worship through the summer, and formally launched the parish with Sunday school and morning worship on September 12, 2004. Holy Trinity joined the Anglican Communion Network, adopted parish by-laws, and installed an overseer called the Vestry.
In January 2005, the vestry hired Michael Green and David Drake to lead the parish beginning in September, 2005. Upon David's ordination to the priesthood in May, 2006, David was made Rector of Holy Trinity. In 2006, an informal Sunday evening service was added, small groups were launched, and additional ministries began. In July, 2007, we were pleased to welcome Ger Jones to the Pastoral Staff. Upon his ordination to the priesthood in the Spring of 2008, Ger was made Associate Rector of Holy Trinity.
In December 2007, Michael Green left the Holy Trinity staff and returned to the U.K., graciously having agreed to stay for an additional six months beyond his two year commitment. Paul Harris joined the staff in September of 2008 as Director of Music Ministry. In June of 2010, Alexis Booth became the new Children's Ministry Coordinator.
David Drake was called to ministry at Church of the Resurrection in Baltimore, MD in March 2010. Ger Jones is currentlyleading a church plant in westside Los Angeles. The Lord called John W. Yates III to Holy Trinity Church in September 2010 to serve as our rector. David Cumbie began as Associate Rector in July 2011. |
